It is the employers who generally conduct the pre-employment drug screening procedures. Existing employees and newly hired staff are tested for drugs to ensure that they remain drug free which helps in affecting their work positively. Applicants who are not suitable for the job are not considered. To make effective decisions in hiring tests at the time of pre-employment are carried out.
Suitability and Ability of the Applicant Gets Determined
These drug tests are generally carried out in conjunction with the process of interview. If there are any areas of concern, then they can be pointed out at this stage itself. Suitability and ability of the applicant gets determined at this stage itself. It is on the final selection that the performance of the organization also depends upon. The pre-employment drug tests prove to be a great tool for selecting good employees. Different kinds of tests are conducted at the pre-employment stage. Drug tests, personality tests, tests on integrity, aptitude and skills are also done. Employers do not want to take any risk as far as performance of employees and organization is concerned.
Instead of hiring and firing the employee later on, it is best to detect his or her habits at the initial stage of employment. Profits of the company will only increase if the employee is able to deliver better work. This may not be possible if the employee is on the binge.
Drug Abuse Costs the Organization
Drug testing certain costs the organization a particular sum. But drug abuse amongst the workers and employees costs the employers in billions every year as seen in many cases. Incidents of too much of loss of precious time at work, health deterioration, accidents at work place, etc. are on the increase these days. One of the main causes of this is drug abuse. The employers too have to note that fair practices need to be followed at the time of taking a pre-employment drug test.
Drug testing should be in line with the state and federal laws. Between each of the states the laws related to drug testing, vary. Employers have to adhere to laws pertaining to their state. Right to privacy while taking urine samples should be provided to the candidate. Also if the candidate desires to go for further tests, he should be allowed to do so. If fair drug testing practices are followed in pre-employment drug screening at organizations then the procedure becomes more acceptable to the general public as a whole.

i recently took a drug test but prior to i had someone blow me a charge. that was on a wednesday but i took the test the following Tuesday what do you think the results will be?

If it was the first time ever and you’re thin then you’ll pass (if we talk about urine test, of course. You’ll pass blood and saliva for sure)
I use to be a heavy smoker but not now I smoked marijuana for a week and stopped on a sunday December 11,2011 that weekend I had someone blow me a charge. On sunday December 18, 2011 I started to clean my system by drinking plenty of fluids but not too much until the day before the test. The day of the test (Wednesday 21, 2011) I drank plenty of water and urinated plenty. I also to a home test after my UA and it was clean but I’m not sure how labs work. I have done something similar to this before and passed but for some reason I’m so nervous this time, do you think I will still pass I’m about 5 feet tall and 150 pounds.

there are two major differences between home test and lab test.
At first lab test is more accurate – it can shows presence of THC up to 15 ng (home – up to 50 ng)
And at second, lab test can show dilution level. If your urine is too diluted then you can be asked for a retest.
Don’t worry. In any case it seems that your urime is clean enough from toxins so either you’ll pas or they will apologise and ask you for a retest which you’ll pas if stop smoke now

Hi, I took 6mg of ativan and was given approx 300mg of liqiuid morphine. (someone thought it would be funny). Anyway I slept for 24 hrs thereafter. I take random urine drug tests for my job. 2 days later I took 120mg of lasix, drank a lot of fluids and then again took 40 mg of lasix on the 5th day after the above drugs. On the 5th day I drank 2 cups of coffee, and 1 16oz glass of water. I did urinate approx 3 times before going into do a random drug test. The urine was clear yellowish. Do you think the urine was clean from the above drugs
Also, please note I have never used the above drugs prior to the above.
