A recent development in the field of science in drug testing is the Sweat Patch. It is done to screen for different illegal substances. The device is augmented on the skin at a similar way as sticking band aid in your arm. The patch is put on for 2 weeks; during this period of time, the patch will detect existence of drugs that are excreted via the process of perspiration.
Situations that require this type of method of drug testing is for people on parole or for custody case reports. The approval of using this method for a general workplace is still in the process of consideration. The patch device is made of a gauze cushion which is covered in membrane casing which looks like that in a band-aid. The membrane has an adherent perimeter which sticks securely to the skin of the subject.
The patch is put on the upper arm but before wearing it, swab the arm with isopropyl alcohol. After 7 to 14 days of application, the patch is peeled off and the pad is delivered to the lab for analysis. The lab performs the drug tests for a diversity of drugs through an immunoassay screening system. If there are any presence of drug is indicated, the lab proceeds with a test to confirm for the specific drug using a more precise method called gas chromatography or mass spectrometry screening system. If drug levels are higher than that of the standards used in the lab, then it is reported as a positive result.
There are several advantages this type of drug test offers; some of which is the increased window of detection since it is usually worn from 7 days or longer. Another advantage is that it impedes the continuous use of drugs since it is always worn by the person suspected of drug abuse. Quick application and removal is also a perk in using this type of drug test. Despite these advantages, there are also some disadvantages; sweat patch can produce a false positive because of environmental contamination, according to scientific studies. Environmental contamination can occur from within meaning any drug residue left on the surface of the skin can be picked up by the sweat patch, which will become indistinguishable from drugs excreted through the subject’s sweat, ending in a false positive result. False positive results may also be due to carelessness of the personnel in charge of applying and removing the patch since some of the personnel are not medically trained and lack experience.

I currently was wearing the sweat patch on federal supervision. I’ve tested positive for pcp once and cocaine metabolite four times and I’ve never used or touched those drugs in my life. Please tell me why asap.

There are several explainings of this situation.
At first it can be the effect of some medicines You took. Some of them like Vicodin, Codein are showing like drugs cause in fact they _are_ some sort of drugs.
At second – are you using steroids? Maybe some dietary supplements? If yes then it can be a reason.
And third – it can be problems with test patch itself. Nearly 5% of all drug testes are falce positive. If you really have never use drugs you should ask for a second test. Tell them that you’re ready to give a hair sample so they can check it and your name will be cleaned

Does it tests for alcohol
I took hair test & it came up positive for cocaine at very low around 300 p. I never ever even touched cocaine. I am pretty sure I was set up (by my soon to be ex) or something was wrong with the test. I am going to ask to wear the patch (for court) do you know if it is more reliable that the hair test. Also where can I find out more about it and get it. I want to be monitored every day because I do not do drugs. I want my kids back.

pearl, hair test shows all the drugs you have took last months or even years. Sweat patch woll show drugs that you’ve took no more then a month or two ago.
If you’ve never took any drugs and never will, you can ask about random drug testing. Monitoring every day – it’s too expensive and unnecessary, one per month will be enough
I am on drugcourt and I had gotten the patch on a Wednesday and I took a urine test on that Friday and it came back negative and then I went to get my patch off that Friday also and the results of my test came back positive why????

A person is on herion for 10 years. Does this drug stay in the body, organs, fatty tissue, skin? If so,can it be detected via a drug test patch later on in life? Say 10 months after you stop injesting it?

Heroin is a water-soluble drug so heroin metabolites rarely stays in body more than 2-3 days. So if the person stop injected heroin 10 month ago and its hair is shorter then 5 inch (in legs, adms and other body parts – was shaved at least once per this 10 month) then there is no way to detect it.
Person’s body was completely clean (except the hair) in 3 days after last injection. Head hair grows an inch in two months so his/her hair in clean up to 5-inch length. Body hair changes ones in a several years (eyelids has the shortest life – nearly a year) so it can keep a traces of the drug.

If your urine is clean then all other body liquids include sweat are clean too.
About pain pills – only Vicodin, Suboxone and so on will show in a drug test, but those pills are prescribed. All other prescribed pills are just meds. They will not show up

If you have sex already with your patch on then you have no reason to worry. It’s waterproof, so it can’t became dirt with someone else sweat and there are zero possibility to get high via sperm. Just be sure that your patch did not become detached from the skin

The standard patch test is a test for 5 different substances: marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, and PCP. There is an expanded version of the sweat patch that also tests for Barbituates,Hydrocodone (Lortab),methaqualone, benzodiazepines, methadone, Darvon, Alcohol, and ecstasy. You would have to determine which sweat patch that you are going to be tested with to guess whether or not the Lortabs will be detected.
hi im on federal probation and i have a drug patch on and recentally i want to the emergancy room and have had the narcotics zofrah dilavedid toradol cephalexin hydrocodone-ibuprofen and acyclovir that processed threw my body… i tested positive for cocaine and i did not use the drug??? if i had sex with someone that has used it is there any possible way his sweat or anything could make me possitive???

There is a distinct possibility that your sweat patch could be corrupted. There have been false positives registered due to external substances penetrating the adhesive seal and the scenario that you described may be the cause as you indicated. You can do some research on the internet about false positives for sweat patches and if the patch had been compromised then that would explain the presence of cocaine. Also search for false positives for cocaine and the ibuprofen may be the cause. Sex will not lead to positive test results – not that level of the drug in your system.
The standard sweat patch is designed to detect the presence of marijuana, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines /methamphetamine and PCP. There are other sweat patches that detect many more substances than these five so we would have to know exactly the type of sweat patch that you are using to determine if the shrooms could be detected.
